We are a small city library with big capabilities. Our media center includes computer workstations, iPads and laptops, printing capabilities, WiFi, videos, copies, faxes, laminating and legal aid center.  We are a part of SHARE which gives us access to thousands of books in the Illinois Heartland Library System from all their member libraries.  Our genealogy section is full of great information and historical papers and books.  We provide many by-mail inquiries with genealogical research and also email inquiries.

*Each year, the Illinois State Library asks trustees of public libraries to determine whether or not their libraries will sell non-resident cards and, if so, what fees will be charged. on 6/14/2024 the Shawneetown Public Library voted that Non-Resident Library Cards will be $15.00. This will be re-evaluated in May of 2025. Kids (K-12) in Gallatin School District are eligible for a FREE library card. Stop in or call for more information
